Rebecca Kane is a self taught visual artist from New York City. She maintains a studio in Greenwich Village where she creates vibrant abstract expressionist paintings and collage. For over 10 years she has built a varied body of work that consistently explores bright color fields, overlapping layers, and the fantasy of abstraction. Known for building up cumulative veneers of non-representational painting, her work evolves in stages and by its completion forms studies in organic and coincidental detailing. The bright colors either convey calm or chaos, depending on the setting around her at the work’s conception. She has exhibited at the National Academy Museum and United Nations Headquarters in New York City, the Louvre in Paris, and at art fairs including Art Basel Miami and FIAC. She has spoken twice at the United Nations on the subject of art as a means of cultural communication and diplomacy, where she was awarded as an art education cultural ambassador. Her work is held in private collections internationally.
